The Hunter-Central Coast Renewable Energy Zone (HCC REZ) will be serviced by new transmission network infrastructure, including sub-transmission lines and substations, which will transfer power generated by solar and wind farms to electricity consumers. This infrastructure will be critical for the successful operation of REZ.
EnergyCo is leading the development of the REZ transmission network infrastructure in its capacity as the Infrastructure Planner for the REZs in NSW, and Ausgrid is the preferred network operator.
As the network operator, Ausgrid will be responsible for designing, financing, building, operating and maintaining the network infrastructure for the HCC REZ.
Ausgrid's proposed infrastructure includes two new substations, a major upgrade on two existing substations, a minor upgrade of other substations, and upgrading of approximately 85 km of existing powerline lines.
The Hunter-Central Coast REZ Infrastructure will be mainly built where there is Ausgrid infrastructure. In some cases, there may be a need to expand easements or obtain new easements. The aim is to minimise impact on communities, landowners and the environment.
Ausgrid has three key sub-contracts, and these subcontractors will seek a variety of services for use during the construction phase:

Genus is an Australian construction company specializing in Power distribution, Transmission and Communications. Genus operates in Western Australia, Queensland, NSW, Victoria and Tasmania with depots in the Hunter and Sydney. Genus has a depot location in Cameron Park where they support Ausgrid and Transgrid for distribution and transmission projects around NSW.
