Overview

South Metropolitan TAFE (SM TAFE) has a proven track record of delivering positive student outcomes and training solutions to corporate and government enterprises across the full spectrum of industry including oil and gas, defence and shipbuilding with related skills in engineering, submarine maintenance, marine craft and civil construction, telecommunications, process plant operations and a diverse range of trades.

SM TAFE has long standing relationships and contracts in place with the Defence industry to service its expansive need for trained personnel delivering a range of accredited and customised training to the defence industry including in naval, maritime and shipbuilding for over 20 years, including developing the digital twin for the Collins Class Submarine which provides the virtual platform for training submariners as well as assisting the shipbuilder's (ASC) engineers, maintainers and mechanics to sustain the submarine.
