Tasmanian businesses are invited to participate in trade shows and other industry engagement opportunities facilitated by the Advanced Manufacturing and Defence Industries unit, within the Department of State Growth.

Advanced Manufacturing and Defence Industries, State Growth

The Advanced Manufacturing and Defence Industries unit in the Department of State Growth works with industry and business across Tasmania to support the growth of Advanced Manufacturing's economic potential and to pursue opportunities for Tasmanian suppliers in the defence industries sector.

The team is committed to providing direct in-market connections for Tasmanian businesses to grow in national and international defence marketplaces.

Trade missions and trade shows provide Tasmanian businesses with the opportunity to explore, expand and maintain meaningful partnerships and build brand awareness for their products and services.

Tasmanian businesses are required to complete a simple expression of interest (EOI) to participate in industry engagement opportunities. Click the 'Trade show' tab to view current EOIs.

How to register for Tasmanian industry opportunities:

  • To register for industry opportunities, you need to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) under the 'Tradeshow' tab. Once your EOI submitted, your registration will be confirmed by email. Please note some of the trade events offer only limited places.
  • To submit an EOI, Tasmanian businesses must have an ICN Gateway company profile.
  • If you do not have an ICN Gateway profile click here to register. A free ICN registration will enable you to submit EOIs and connect with project proponents.
  • ICN registration takes approximately 20 minutes; A log-in will be provided upon verification of business details.
  • Registration tip: Make sure you select all your business capabilities in the company profile and select to have email notifications to match your capabilities to receive information on project opportunities relevant to your business.

Tasmanian manufacturing companies are invited to submit an expression of interest (EOI) to participate in this industry insights tour which includes informative site visits to some of Adelaide's leading manufacturers demonstrating innovation and advanced technologies in action, plus a tour of the Factory of the Future at the Australian Industrial Transformation Institute at Flinders University.

The tour includes:
- Accommodation, 3 nights from Tuesday 17th to Friday 20th October provided
- Site visits to industry leading manufacturers
- The Factory of the Future at Tonsley Innovation District
- Industry tour dinner (sponsored by TMEC)
- Successful applicants that attend all tour activities will be eligible to claim a subsidy up to $1,300 per business towards airfares and transfer costs. Tour activities will be in Adelaide from Tuesday 17th October 2023 until tour conclusion at 1pm Friday 20th October.

Note: All other expenses are attendees' responsibility.

Tasmanian manufacturing companies are invited to submit an expression of interest (EOI) to participate in this Industry Insights Tour which includes informative site visits to some of Brisbane's leading manufacturers demonstrating innovation and advanced technologies in action, plus a tour at the Advanced Robotics for Manufacturing (ARM) Hub.

This tour provides opportunities to:
- Gain exposure to industry leaders and best practice in processes, management and procedures.
- Explore how modern technologies and innovation can strengthen and support businesses to improve efficiencies and grow.
- Collaborate with innovators, research organisations, and peers in the manufacturing industry, share insights and problem-solve.

The tour includes:
- Accommodation, 3 nights from Monday 28 to Thursday 31 October 2024 provided
- Site visits to industry leading manufacturers
- University/research facility tour/s
- Industry networking dinner
- Successful applicants that attend all tour activities will be eligible to claim a subsidy of up to $800 per business towards airfares and transfer costs.

EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST ARE OPEN FOR TASMANIAN MANUFACTURING BUSINESSES TO JOIN THE 'AUSTRALIAN MANUFACTURING WEEK (AMW) 2025 INSIGHTS INTO EXCELLENCE TOUR' IN MELBOURNE VIC 6 - 9 MAY.

Tasmanian manufacturing companies are invited to submit an expression of interest (EOI) to participate in this Industry Insights Tour which includes attendance at AMW, informative site visits to some of Melbourne's leading manufacturers demonstrating innovation and advanced technologies in action, plus a tour at the Monash University's Innovation Lab and Monash Uncrewed Aerial Systems.

This tour provides opportunities to:
. Explore new technologies, the latest machinery and modern manufacturing innovation.
. Gain exposure to industry leaders and best practice in manufacturing processes, management and procedures.
. Collaborate with innovators, research organisations, and peers in the manufacturing industry, share insights and problem-solve.

The tour includes:

The Tasmanian Government has assumed a caretaker role ahead of the March 2024 state election. While planning relating to this Insights Tour continues, confirmation of this activity will be determined following the election.

Noting this, Tasmanian Manufacturing companies are invited to submit an Expression of Interest to join the Australian Manufacturing Week 'Insights Into Excellence' Tour in Sydney, 15 - 18 April 2024.

This tour provides opportunities to:
- Gain insight into new technologies, the latest machinery and advances on modern manufacturing processes.
- Meet and network with innovators and peers in the manufacturing industry.
- Collaborate with other manufacturing companies and research organisations, share insights and best practices.

The tour includes:
- Accommodation, 3 nights from Monday 15 to Thursday 18 April 2024 provided
- Attendance at Australian Manufacturing Week expo 2024
- University and manufacturer site visits
- Industry dinner
- Successful applicants that attend all tour activities will be eligible to claim a subsidy of up to $600 per business towards airfares and transfer costs.

Businesses from the Tasmanian defence maritime sector are invited to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) to participate in this Industry Insights Tour. This tour will include informative site visits and valuable networking opportunities with leading shipbuilders, prime contractors, and local businesses from Western Australia's defence maritime industry.

Who Should Apply?
Tasmanian businesses who operate in defence and commercial maritime sectors are eligible to apply.

The Tour Includes:
- Accommodation at Fremantle, WA provided and paid for by the Department of State Growth (4 nights, from Monday 24 February to Friday 28 February)
- Site visits to leading defence and commercial maritime businesses at the Australian Marine Complex (AMC)
- Industry networking opportunities
- Bus transportation for the tours
- Lunch provided on the two full days of the tour (25 and 26 February)
- Daily breakfast at the hotel
- Reimbursement of travel costs up to $1,000 per business for airfares and airport transfers only. (Note: All other expenses are the responsibility of attendees)

Expressions of Interest are open for Tasmanian businesses to join the Defence Tasmania delegation at the INDO-PACIFIC 2023, International Maritime Exposition, 7 - 9 November, International Convention Centre, Sydney NSW.

Tasmanian companies are invited to submit an expression of interest (EOI) to participate and promote their products/services directly to those that make purchasing decisions in the global defence supply chain. INDO PACIFIC 2023 will again feature an extensive delegations management system designed to help exhibitors and delegations to connect and coordinate business engagement.

Indo Pacific Exposition is the global business event that brings together senior merchant marine, shore services, maritime and defence industry, military and government decision-makers from around the world with particular emphasis on the Asian and Indo-Pacific regions.

It will be the 13th iteration of this internationally renowned event, which in 2022 attracted:

- More than 25,000 visitor attendances across the three days
- 736 participating exhibitor companies from 23 countries, a 12% increase on 2019
- An exhibition space 11% larger than the previous record set in 2019
- More than 70 conferences, symposia and presentations, including the Royal Australian Navy's Sea Power Conference
- 115 official defence, industry, academic and government delegations
- More than 40 nations represented, with 39 Chief of Navy Counterparts or their representative from around the world
- Visits from Australia's Minister for Defence and Minister for Defence Industry.

The Tasmanian Government has assumed a caretaker role ahead of the March 2024 state election. While planning for a Defence Tasmania delegation to Land Forces 2024 in Melbourne continues, confirmation of this activity will be determined following the election.

Noting this, Expressions of Interest for Tasmanian businesses and other defence related entities are encouraged to join the Defence Tasmania delegation to Land Forces 2024 in Melbourne from 11-13 September 2024.

Land Forces occurs every two years and is Australia's key land domain defence trade event. It is an unmissable opportunity for enterprises seeking opportunities in this sector.
