The River Torrens to Darlington (T2D) Project involves constructing two separate tunnels - the Southern Tunnels and the Northern Tunnels. The tunnels will be connected by an open motorway. The motorway and the tunnels will have three lanes operating in each direction, with a combined total distance of 10.5km.

When complete, more than 50% of the T2D Project will be tunnels.
The consortium of John Holland, Bouygues Construction, Arcadis Australia, Jacobs and Ventia has been selected to build South Australia's biggest-ever road infrastructure project. In partnership with the South Australian Government this consortium forms the T2D Alliance.
These companies individually have an extensive track record of successfully delivering major tunnelling and infrastructure projects around the country and internationally. This includes WestConnex, Sydney Metro and Southwest Tunnel and Station Excavation and Sydney Airport Rail Link, as well as the Trunk Road T2 Project in Hong Kong and High Speed 2 Link in the United Kingdom.
The T2D project will support approximately 5,500 jobs per year during main construction, with 90 per cent of labour hours to be undertaken by South Australians.
It will also deliver unprecedented opportunities for South Australian businesses, with the project committed to maximising opportunities for local businesses to ensure the T2D Project leaves a skills legacy.
The T2D Project will work with industry to explore South Australia's supply chain, capacity and capability. Wherever possible, the works will be packaged to ensure opportunities for multiple small to medium sized locally based firms to supply elements of the design and delivery of the Project.
The Industry Capability Network (ICN) is a procurement and supply chain tool used to connect suppliers with project managers. This dedicated T2D Project Directory has been established with ICN to allow potential suppliers to submit information about their products and services through an EOI registration process. South Australian suppliers, and those employing South Australian residents, are strongly encouraged to register.
