BHP is seeking an engineering services provider (ESP) to design the tailings disposal system upgrade for the Prominent Hill mine site operations expansion project (Services).

The tailings disposal system is responsible for delivering tailings from the tails thickener via interconnecting pipework and discharge spigots to the TSF. The existing tailings disposal system has been designed to accommodate the tailings produced when the process plant is operating at its nameplate capacity of 10Mtpa. The future tailings disposal system will be required to operate at both the existing processing plant capacity and at a reduced rate.

Previous studies have reported a risk of solids settling in the tailings pipeline at low flow conditions, and possible pump performance issues. The purpose of the Services is to re-confirm these impacts and complete the detailed design for any upgrades required to the tailings disposal system to accommodate the revised tailings throughputs. Maintaining reliable performance of the tailings disposal system for the remaining life of mine is a key priority for the project to ensure continued operation of the process plant. To achieve this, the tailings disposal system must accommodate variability in throughput volumes and material composition reporting to the Tailings Storage Facility.

The Services will be delivered in two phases:

Phase 1 - Scoping
The ESP will familiarise themselves with the project requirements, develop a preferred solution, and summarise the alternative options. These shall be presented to BHP for evaluation and confirmation the solution meets project objectives and operational requirements.

Phase 2 - Detailed Design
Based on the outcome and endorsement of Phase 1, the ESP will execute the detailed design portion of the Services, including the full range of engineering deliverables for civil, SMP and EIC works.

A Rope-up and Rope-handling system is required for the Prominent Hill mine shaft as part of the PHOX project. This work package is for the fabrication and supply of the following Rope-up and Rope-handling equipment:

1. 3T Reeler Assembly
2. 3T Reeler Hydraulic Power Unit Assembly
3. 30T Winch Assembly
4. 30T Winch Hydraulic Power Unit Assembly
5. 5T Winch Assembly
