Overview
The Boree Solar Farm is considered a State Significant Development (SSD) and is located north of Geurie and east of Wongarbon, near Dubbo in New South Wales. The Project would involve the construction, operation, and decommissioning of a PV solar facility with a capacity of approximately 250 MW that would supply electricity to the National Electricity Market, and a battery energy storage system (BESS) with an indicative capacity of up to 200 MW for 4 hours (800 megawatt-hours (MWh).
The Project is being developed by Venn Energy, an Australian renewable energy company. Venn Energy's portfolio comprises large-scale solar and battery energy storage projects at various stages of development across Australia.
The Project is currently in environmental assessment, and technical specialists have been engaged to prepare an environmental impact statement (EIS).
If approved, construction of the Project would take approximately 2 years. Construction timing will be confirmed once a Principal Contractor has been engaged.
The Project would have an operational lifespan of about 30 years.
Construction would approximately generate up to 350 full-time equivalent jobs during peak construction.
Venn Energy is committed to the local procurement of goods and services from businesses for accommodation, meals, machinery contractors, construction trades, surveyors, cleaning services, security services, training service providers, building supplies, waste contractors and more.
Registrations of interest are now open for the indicative works packages on this page. Engagement of contractors and the procurement of goods and services for the Project will be undertaken by the Principal Contractor, who has not yet been appointed. The purpose of this registration of interest is to gauge local capacity and supply to encourage the use of local businesses wherever possible.
