NEW ENGLAND HIGHWAY - MUSWELLBROOK BYPASS PROJECT - TENDER - BIELBY/FERROVIAL JV
Overview
Ferrovial Construction & Bielby Holdings are partnering for the upcoming New England Highway - Muswellbrook Bypass Project in regional New South Wales which is funded by the Federal Government and State Government (TfNSW). Ferrovial Construction and Bielby Holdings are well established civil infrastructure contractors with over 40+ years of experience in both regional and metropolitan areas. They adopt collaborative work approaches with project participants to achieve exceptional project outcomes for clients and the wider community.
The Project
The Muswellbrook Bypass Project includes the investigation, design, construction, testing and commissioning of a 9.3km new dual lane carriageway (one lane each direction) bypassing Muswellbrook through the East from Milpera Dr South to Koolbury Flats in the North. The goals of the Muswellbrook Bypass Project are to improve road safety by separating heavy vehicles from local traffic, reduce congestion within Muswellbrook, and enhance freight efficiency along a critical regional corridor. The project also aims to improve travel time reliability, support future traffic growth, boost regional economic activity, and enhance community amenity by reducing noise, pollution, and traffic impacts in the town centre.
Key Scope of the project include the construction of:
- New full depth flexible pavement along new carriageway
- Several bridge structures over live road and rail corridors
- Single major earth cut and mass haul to fill locations along the alignment.
- North, south and central interchanges
- Drainage pipe and culvert installation
- Contamination treatment and management
- Utility service relocation and installation
The project is currently in the procurement/bid stage with contract award expected late Q4 2026. Procurement will be undertaken progressively through a series of work packages. Opportunities are expected to include site compound establishment, earthworks, ground stabilisations, landscaping, plant and equipment hire, quarry supply, steel reinforcements, fencing, stormwater installation, labour hire, FRP, environmental services, utility installations. All suppliers must meet relevant safety, environmental and quality requirements, along with any applicable government and project-specific standards.
