Overview
On behalf of the Department of Education and Training (DET), the Department of Logistics and Infrastructure (DLI) has released a tender for the design, documentation, and construction of the new Palmerston Secondary Special Education School (PSSES).
Preliminary design documentation, including concept design and brief for the school, has been completed and is provided with this tender. The proposed new campus will accommodate 200 students (Years 7-12) and will help to relieve pressure on existing special education services, including the Special Education Centre at Palmerston Secondary School and Henbury School in Darwin.
The proposed works include, but are not limited to:
- Five (5) General Learning Area (GLA) blocks of classrooms and associated support learning spaces comprising of GLA1, GLA2, GLA3, GLA4(a) and GLA4(b);
- Administration building,
- Music room and economics inclusive of a cafe and retail VET building,
- Technology and arts building,* Bike and trailer storage,
- Horticulture, farm, maintenance and recycling buildings,
- Covered pool and water play area,
- New playing field,
- Landscape architecture, covered walkways, shade structures, play areas, paths etc,
- Roads, car parking, loading bays including covered vehicle and bus stop drop off / pickup areas,
- Gates and fencing to PSSES perimeter and zones within where required,
- Accessibility modifications where required to the existing gym, canteen, library and covered basketball court on the current Palmerston Secondary School Campus, and
- All associated site services and civil infrastructure work to support the new PSSES
- Supply and install of all Group 1. FFE items.

This Expression of Interest process is intended to identify subcontractors with suitable capability, experience and capacity to support DCOH in the tender process. Submissions should clearly identify the relevant work package or packages and outline the contractor's capability to deliver the required works.
