HAMR Energy is an Australian developer of projects that produce low carbon liquid fuels. Started in 2021 HAMR Energy has a mission to make low carbon liquid fuels to decarbonise transportation in Australia.
Project Shearwater is a large-scale development that utilises residual biomass from forestry plantations in Green Triangle forestry region of Victoria and South Australia and creates sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). This fuel is a vital step in the decarbonisation of air travel, and Project Shearwater is intended to produce over 140,000 million litres per year of SAF.
The project will include core elements of processing equipment:
- Pre-treatment and feedstock preparation facilities
- Gasifier
- Gas cleaning
- Hydrogen electrolysis
- Methanol catalysis
- SAF production
- On site utilities
- Logistics facilities for transportation of feedstocks and products
In addition, the Project Shearwater site development will include civil engineering and drainage works, and a dedicated high voltage electrical connection to the South Australian power network.
