Marinus Link is a new electricity and telecommunications interconnector between North West Tasmania and Victoria's Latrobe Valley. The national infrastructure project will strengthen the grid and drive investment in renewable energy.
It includes high-voltage and fibre-optic cables spanning 255 km across Bass Strait and 90 km underground in Gippsland, along with a fibre-optic terminal station at Sandy Point and converter stations at Heybridge and Hazelwood.The Marinus Link Project is jointly owned by the Commonwealth of Australia, the State of Tasmania and the State of Victoria and administered by Marinus Link Pty Ltd.
TasVic Greenlink (TVGL), a joint venture between DT Infrastructure Pty Ltd and Samsung C&T Corporation, has been named as the contractor for delivery of the Balance of Works (BOW) package. This package covers the construction of two converter stations - in Heybridge, Tasmania and Hazelwood, Victoria - the installation of equipment, and land cable civil works spanning 90km across Gippsland.
TVGL will be taking a number of major works packages to market, encompassing civils, electrical, plumbing, and steel. The project is looking for Expressions Of Interest from companies with a strong prioritisation on safety, that are eager to contribute to this significant dual state renewable energy project.
TVGL is actively creating opportunities within select packages for smaller businesses, social enterprises, and sole traders, with a particular interest in submissions from companies based in Gippsland and/or North West Tasmania.
