Background:
In November 2020, the WA Government announced the end of privatised services at Peel Health Campus (PHC) and the planned transition from Ramsay Health Care to South Metropolitan Health Service (SMHS) management. The transition was successfully completed on 13 August 2024, paving the way for a major redevelopment to meet the growing healthcare needs of the Peel region. In November 2025, the State Government announced that the redevelopment of the PHC will be a new construction project, adjacent to the existing facility. This new facility is known as the New Mandurah Hospital (NMH) Project.
Structure:
An integrated alliance has now been established from the following primary entities:
* Government of Western Australia
* Built
* Sacyr
The three organisations are identified as the WA Health Alliance (WAHA).
Execution support is being provided by key delivery partners Aurecon and Architectus.
Scope and Timeframes:
The new hospital will include:
* an expanded Emergency Department
* a dedicated Mental Health Emergency Centre
* more inpatient and specialist palliative care beds
* expanded chemotherapy and outpatient services
* modern operating theatres and clinical support spaces.
Construction of the main works is expected to begin in June 2026, subject to approvals.
