Located on Hobart's iconic waterfront, the stadium will become a hub for sport, entertainment and community activity - a place Tasmanians can be proud of and a venue that draws national and international attention.
The Macquarie Point Multipurpose Stadium project is to design and construct an all-weather, roofed multipurpose stadium that reflects the character and history of the site and Tasmanian brand.
The Multipurpose Stadium will include:
- A full arena seating bowl with 23,000 seats and an additional 1,500 structured standing capacity
- 31,500 patron capacity for major concert events (incl. field capacity)
- Future-proofed structural capacity expansion strategy to 30,550
- 1,500-person Function Room with views to both the field of play and toward kunanyi / Mt Wellington
- A fixed translucent roof with 38m minimum clearance over the centre square of the Field of Play and a general 32m minimum clearance over the Field of Play
- Premium hybrid / rye grass turf with oval dimensions of at least 159.5m x 128.5m (boundary line)
Multipurpose venue envisaged for the following uses:
- AFL
- Cricket
- Rugby AU / Rugby Union / NRL
- Football Australia / AFC/ OFC / FIFA
- Concerts / MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions)
- Running events
- Special Events and Tournaments
- Community Events
- Any other suitable even
- 5,500 Corporate spaces
It is noted that the stadium forms part of a wider masterplan.
