Mulga Downs Iron Ore Project - contractor expressions of interest
About the Mulga Downs Iron Ore Project
HanRoy, as part of Hancock Prospecting, is leading the study, design and development of the proposed Mulga Downs iron ore mine and associated infrastructure (the Project) in the Pilbara region of Western Australia.
Located on the lands of the Banjima people, the Project site is approximately 180 km northwest of Newman, 210 km south of Port Hedland and 70 km from the existing Roy Hill rail network.
The proposed Project is a new greenfield mine producing up to 12Mtpa of direct shipping ore, and will require the construction and operation of:
HanRoy has completed a feasibility study for the Project. Construction is subject to gaining required Government approvals, finalising agreements with stakeholders, and the company taking a positive final investment decision.
While HanRoy is seeking expressions of interest from contractors, no tenders will be released until there is a final decision to proceed with construction of the Project. We anticipate this will occur during H2, 2026.
Expressions of interest - Banjima businesses
HanRoy is committed to ensuring development of Banjima businesses and providing employment opportunities through the development and operation of the Project.
HanRoy is seeking expressions of interest to understand as early as possible which Banjima businesses are active, have capabilities, or would like to develop capabilities, for potential tender packages on the Project.
Banjima businesses interested in future opportunities on the Project are strongly encouraged to register their interest through the 'Expression of Interest' package below.
We also encourage local community businesses to register their interest.
Prior to submitting an 'Expression of Interest' in the Project, businesses require an active ICN Gateway company profile. Information on how to register on the ICN Gateway is available here Profile User Guide - Industry Capability Network
Expressions of interest - other contractors
While HanRoy is initially focussed on building its database of Banjima businesses, all other businesses (indigenous, Pilbara local and Australian businesses) interested in Project opportunities are encouraged to submit expressions of interest.
Next steps
HanRoy will progress activities such as:
While the submission of an expression of interest in the Project does not ensure inclusion on future tender bid lists, registration of your company's interest is strongly encouraged. Companies who do not register during the expression of interest phase may be considered at a later date for tender bid list inclusion.
HanRoy values any expressions of interest received through this process and will share further Project information with registered businesses in due course.
