Metro Trains Sydney (MTS) is the operator and maintainer of the M1 Northwest and Bankstown Line, Australia's only fully accessible, driverless train service. MTS is a joint venture of MTR Corporation, John Holland and UGL Rail.
In September 2014, the Northwest Rapid Transit consortium, of which MTS is the Operations and Maintenance contractor, was awarded the Operations, Trains and Systems Public Private Partnership contract for the Metro North West Line.
In 2019, the NSW Government, through Sydney Metro Authority, extended the PPP contract to include the operation and maintenance of the combined Metro North West Line and Sydney Metro City & Southwest.
On 19 August 2024, the City expansion opened providing direct, fast and reliable metro services into the heart of Sydney's CBD introducing six new stations - Crows Nest, Victoria Cross, Barangaroo, Martin Place, Gadigal and Waterloo and new platforms at Sydenham and Central Station - connection people at Tallawong to Chatswood and Sydenham in less than an hour.

Metro Trains Sydney (MTS) is seeking Expressions of Interest (EOI) from suitably qualified and experienced suppliers for the provision of Vegetation Management Services for Sydney Metro Southwest corridor, extending from the country side of Sydenham Station to Bankstown Station.
The project requires a contractor capable of delivering Vegetation Management to maintain vegetation in a safe, compliant, and operationally effective condition-particularly around UTO fencing, gates, and critical signalling and communications infrastructure-while working both outside and within the rail corridor under controlled access conditions, ensuring compliance with environmental and safety requirements, and working collaboratively with MTS and other stakeholders.
SERVICE REQUIREMENTS:
1. Vegetation management including but not limited to, pruning and trimming of trees, branches, shrubs grass.
2. Vegetation management for 3m either side of UTO fence and gates.
3. Vegetation management for at least 2m around any CIDS & ODS outdoor cabinets and camera pole areas.
4. Weed killer within the 3m of UTO fence, 2m CIDS & ODS outdoor cabinet and surrounding CCTV pole areas.
5. Coordinate with MTS for any corrective vegetation management activities.
6. Clearance of vegetation encroaching on or within the track envelope, including but not limited to ballast shoulders and track drainage paths.
7. Prevention of vegetation growth that may interfere with trackside equipment, access path and emergency egress routes.
Metro Trains Sydney (MTS) is seeking Expressions of Interest (EOI) from suitably qualified and experienced suppliers for the provision of geotechnical services to support the management of baseline residual assets (BRA) along the Sydney Metro Southwest corridor. These assets, ranging from 84 to 127 years old, require ongoing inspection, monitoring, and remediation to meet operational and safety standards for GoA4 driverless metro services.
This EOI is for a retainer-based engagement to provide rapid mobilisation of certified geotechnical professionals and associated services, including site inspections, condition assessments, monitoring advice, and remediation strategy input.
SERVICE REQUIREMENTS
1. Provide certified geotechnical professionals with rapid mobilisation capability
2. Undertake site inspections of geotechnical assets (cuttings, embankments, retaining walls, etc.)
3. Deliver independent condition assessments and certifications
4. Advise on monitoring requirements (visual, survey, instrumentation)
5. Provide written reports with risk assessments and recommendations
6. Recommend repair and remediation strategies aligned with railway safety standards
7. Support remedial design with technical input
8. Ensure compliance with relevant standards and regulatory frameworks
9. Provide certification to support engineering assurance processes
