Chevron Australia Pty Ltd (Chevron Australia) is operator of the Barrow Island Joint Venture (known as WA Oil), located on Barrow Island off the northwest coast of Western Australia (WA).
Since WA Oil production commenced in 1967, onshore production wells have gathered oil from the field beneath Barrow Island. Processing occurred on-island before oil was transported via pipeline to offshore tankers for export.
In 2025, the Barrow Island oil field ceased production when the last production well and production station were shut-in and isolated.
As a mature asset, the Barrow Island oil field and related facilities and infrastructure have now entered the decommissioning phase.
