Overview

BHP invites new and existing Suppliers to register their interest in providing construction services to current and upcoming projects located in South Australia. The Company is seeking expressions of interest from suitably qualified contractors to gain an understanding of the capacity and capability of available contractors to support BHP's copper growth plans in South Australia.

BHP's copper province in South Australia comprises the Olympic Dam, Prominent Hill and Carrapateena underground mines, which provide volumes of copper concentrate to a centralised smelter and refinery complex at Olympic Dam that produces refined copper cathode. The company is also progressing the Oak Dam exploration prospect and projects such as Smelter & Refinery Expansion (SRE) and Carrapateena expansion (CXP).

Work Packages Overview

BHP is seeking EOI's for the provision of construction works for multiple work packages in the following scope disciplines across the projects detailed above:

  • Bulk Earthworks
  • Civils & Concrete
  • Non-Process Infrastructure (NPI)
  • Structural Mechanical Piping (SMP)
  • Electrical, Instrumentation & Controls (EI&C)


Contractors will most likely be required to supply all management, labour, supervision, equipment, services and minor materials, other than free issue materials for relevant disciplines construction and commissioning activities. Due to the complexities of these projects and work packages they will require a significant level of Contractors capabilities and experience.


Indicative Timelines

Works commencing mid-2026 to 2030.
