The project includes construction of an Aircraft Parking Apron at Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) Base Darwin, Northern Territory. The Apron will provide parking for 25 tilt-rotor and rotary wing aircraft to support aircraft participating in training activities launching from RAAF Base Darwin. The parking apron will be connected to the existing Bomber Replenishment Apron (BRA) and the Fighter Replenishment Apron (FRA). The project will also establish two helicopter final approach and take-off (FATO) pads with taxiway connection to the existing taxiway TWY A6, an aircraft rinse facility and aircraft wash rack pad are included that are accessible from the rotary-wing parking apron.
The project scope includes demolition, clearing and excavation of PFAS impacted soil and pavement. The project scope also includes centreline and apron edge lighting, services establishment such as; water, sanitary sewer, stormwater drainage, electrical, and telecommunications. This project scope also includes the establishment of a fire booster pump station with fire water storage tanks, wastewater pump station, aircraft rinse and wash facilities, and three electrical substations.
In addition to the requirements specified in the Contract Documents, all work must also be conducted in accordance with the applicable Australian legislation, Australian codes of practice, applicable AS/NZS standards, Australian Defence policies, and relevant Australian Defence authorization. Features include Demolition, Earthworks, Civil Works, Underground Utilities, Concrete Paving, Asphalt Paving, and Vertical construction.
