Overview

North East Water is responsible for the provision of water and sewage services to an estimated population of 160,000 people in 39 towns in North East Victoria, across an area of 20,000 square kilometres. The service delivery area is bound by Corryong, Yarrawonga, Benalla and Dartmouth.

We operate 21water treatment facilities and 22wastewater treatment plants that service most towns across the region. We provideurban water and sewage services in accordance with the powers, functions and duties under theWater Act 1989. North East Water is seeking to gain a more detailed understanding of the supplier market for upcoming projects.


Beechworth WWTP Upgrade

The Beechworth WWTP located on McFeeters Road is to be upgraded from a lagoon-based treatment process to a biological nutrient removal plant from which treated water will continue to flow to a nearby waterway or be used for onsite irrigation. Looking to begin construction in early 2026 the build will include concrete bioreactors, inlet works and outfall pipework, UV filtration and an aerobic digester.


Kiewa-Tangambalanga System Upgrade

The Kiewa-Tangambalanga System Upgrade Project has identified that the system is operating at a stretched capacity. Stage 2 of the upgrade program will increase system resilience; the works will include the install of a clear water storage (CWS) tank; trunk watermains in both Kiewa and Tangambalanga along with new sewer pumping station and rising mains.


Mount Beauty Offtake Upgrade

North East Water has committed to replacing the existing raw water offtake infrastructure in Mount Beauty to improve the resilience of the system. A new pump station is to be located on the eastern side of the West Kiewa River near Embankment Drive. This project will see the construction of an architecturally designed pump station building, above ground raw water pump station including priming system and acoustic protection, offtake structure and landscaping to ensure amenity of the site.


Supplier Panels

North East Water will be expanding the use of supplier panels for the purpose of setting up multi year panel arrangements for efficient engagement of suppliers. These will be for above and below ground asset maintenance and repair works; Construction related services such as project management, engineering services, environmental and cultural heritage assessments etc.
