Powerlink is delivering a portfolio of electricity transmission projects across Central Queensland to ensure the security of energy supply and the stability of the grid. This is a critical step in reinforcing the network, enabling the transition of power assets such as Gladstone Power Station with new energy sources while maintaining system strength and reliability.
These projects are at varying stages of planning, assessment and delivery and will be implemented progressively, subject to regulatory approvals, investment decisions and funding processes.
Powerlink is using a coordinated, program level approach across its Central Queensland projects to maximise opportunities for local and Indigenous businesses, while ensuring safe, efficient and reliable delivery of critical transmission infrastructure.
Central Queensland Project Portfolio
Powerlink's current Central Queensland project portfolio includes the following projects. Detailed and up to date information for each project, including scope, approvals and engagement activities, is available on Powerlink's website via the links below.
The Gladstone Project is a multi-stage program of transmission upgrades to strengthen and increase capacity of the electricity network in the Gladstone region. This critical program of transmission upgrades will ensure the safety and reliability of the electricity network as the region prepares for the eventual retirement of the Gladstone Power Station, and heavy industry moves toward electrification of their operations increasing demand on the network.
The Gladstone Project is being planned and delivered in stages, subject to regulatory approvals, funding decisions and the Queensland Government's Priority Transmission Investment (PTI) process.
Stage 1 - Calvale to Calliope River Transmission Line Reinforcement
Stage 1 involves delivery of the Calvale to Calliope River Transmission Line Reinforcement Project, including a new transmission line and works at existing substations to improve network capacity and resilience.

Powerlink is seeking to understand the capability and capacity of suppliers interested in participating in Central Queensland transmission projects.
Businesses are encouraged to register their interest through the Gateway by ICN, noting that registrations may relate to one or multiple projects within the Central Queensland portfolio.
Suppliers who have already registered their interest for the Gladstone Project through the Gateway by ICN do not need to re-register. Existing registrations will be carried forward and considered as part of Powerlink's Central Queensland Supplier Register.
Information collected through the Registration of Interest (ROI) process is used to:
Once a business has completed an Gateway by ICN registration, their details will form part of Powerlink's Central Queensland Supplier Register.
This Register may be used by Powerlink and/or principal contractors to:

Businesses seeking to participate in Powerlink's Central Queensland projects are required to register through the Industry Capability Network (ICN) Gateway. Registration enables Powerlink and its contractors to better understand supplier capability and capacity and supports market analysis and procurement planning across relevant projects.
Suppliers requiring assistance with the Gateway by ICN platform can contact Powerlink's nominated ICN representative using the contact details provided alongside this listing.
Powerlink has developed a Supplier Information Guide to support businesses interested in participating in Central Queensland transmission projects. The guide provides general and introductory information to help suppliers understand the projects, how the Registration of Interest process works, and how supplier information may be used.
The Supplier Information Guide is intended to assist businesses to position their capability information clearly and accurately and should be read alongside Gateway by ICN guidance material. The guide can be downloaded below.
