The Victorian Government is investing in the redevelopment and expansion of Ballarat Base Hospital, with Built delivering the final stage of this important project in partnership with the Victorian Health Building Authority and Grampians Health.
A new and expanded critical care floor will bring together a state-of-the-art operating theatre suite, procedure rooms, an expanded intensive care unit, endoscopy suites and consulting rooms. This will deliver capacity for an extra 4,000 surgeries every year.Once completed, the upgraded hospital will have the capacity to treat at least 18,000 more emergency patients and an extra 14,500 inpatients per year.
The Stage 3 Main Works will encompass a new multi-level tower and main entrance off Sturt Street, featuring:
- a new emergency department
- a women and children's hub
- a state-of-the-art operating theatre suite
- an extra 100 inpatient and short stay beds.
Available work packages are listed below and any interested suppliers are required to register an EOI via the ICN Gateway.
Pre-qualification documentation required for interested suppliers is under review but evaluation shall include assessment against:
- Financial capability
- Insurances held by suppliers
- Experience and capacity
- Experience and capacity of key personnel
- Industrial relations
- Current workload and total capacity
- Proven program performance
- Safety and quality systems
- Built's prior experience with supplier
The project is due for completion in October 2027.

The shelving and storage package includes but is not limited to stainless steel wire mesh shelving both mobile and non-mobile, stainless steel shelving unit, wire mesh compactus, heavy duty shelving, cabinet tambour with sliding doors and is lockable, storage bins and Sharps bin waste etc.
Signage & graphics including but not limited to regulatory signage, directional signage, profile cut lettering (metal, acrylic, vinyl), wall decals, illuminated signage, magnetic receptive signs.
