Overview

The Australian Institute for Infectious Disease (AIID) has been established to bring together some of the nation's greatest scientific and medical research minds to provide a rapid, coordinated response to current and future infectious diseases and pandemics. The AIID is backed by $400m of guaranteed Victorian State Government funding. The Foundation Partners (The University of Melbourne, Doherty Institute and Burnet Institute) are contributing a further $150m towards the facility and the University is providing land for the development valued at up to $100m.

The AIID facility has been designed by leading architecture firm, Wardle, and engineered by Aurecon with Wood. The facility will feature high-containment laboratories, a clinical trials unit and workspace for the three Foundation partners and industry tenants. An early works contractor has been appointed and early works are due to be completed by end of 2024.

Tendering for main works will occur in 2024. Subcontractors, Suppliers and Manufacturers interested in participating in the project are encouraged to submit an EOI through ICN Gateway outlining their capability, capacity and service/product offering.
