AUSTRALIAN INSTITUTE FOR INFECTIOUS DISEASE

Overview

The Australian Institute for Infectious Disease (AIID) has been established to bring together some of the nation's greatest scientific and medical research minds to provide a rapid, coordinated response to current and future infectious diseases and pandemics. The AIID is backed by $400m of guaranteed Victorian State Government funding. The Foundation Partners (The University of Melbourne, Doherty Institute and Burnet Institute) are contributing additional funds and the University is providing land for the development.

The AIID facility has been designed by leading architecture firm, Wardle, and engineered by Aurecon with Wood. The facility will feature high-containment laboratories, a clinical trials unit and workspace for the three Foundation partners and industry tenants. An early works contractor has been appointed, and early works are due to be completed by late 2025.

The procurement process for main works is underway with a successful contractor set to be appointed in late 2025. Subcontractors, appliers and manufacturers interested in participating in the project are encouraged to submit an EOI through ICN Gateway outlining their capability, capacity and service/product offering.
