Overview

The South Australian Government is implementing the Hydrogen Jobs Plan which includes the following infrastructure to be constructed at Whyalla:

  • 250MWe of electrolysers;
  • 200MW of power generation to be powered by hydrogen produced by the electrolysers; and
  • the Hydrogen Reticulation and Storage System (HRSS).

ElectraNet own and manage South Australia's high voltage transmission network, which transports electricity over long distances from traditional and renewable generators.

ElectraNet has been engaged by the South Australian Government to build, own, operate and maintain the high voltage electrical infrastructure required to connect the Hydrogen Jobs Plan facility to the National Electricity Market.

This includes:
- 2 greenfield 275kV substations;
- Approx. 9km of 275kV transmission line; and,
- Telecommunication and protection works to integrate the new assets into the network.

ElectraNet are running a Select Request for Tender (SRFT) with our preferred partners:
- Consolidated Power Projects Australia Pty Ltd
- Downer Utilities Australia Pty Ltd
- Enerven Energy Infrastructure Pty Ltd
- RJE Global Pty Ltd
- Ventia Australia Pty Ltd

ElectraNet's preferred partners are being encouraged to engage with local suppliers as they develop their tenders.
Local industry are requested to register their interest to provide goods and services to the successful partner, prior to 8 March 2024.
