Frasers Solar Farm project, it is located on rural land approximately 2 kilometres (km) south of the Toongabbie township and 5km north of the Glengarry township in south-eastern Victoria.

The Project spans across 110 hectares (ha) and is expected to generate enough clean energy to supply around 29,000 homes with clean renewable energy. This will assist Australia in reducing carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by roughly the equivalent of 154,000 tonnes per year and support a transition towards a more sustainable economy in the Latrobe Valley.

In addition, the Project will provide local social and economic benefits associated with the construction and operation of the Project through employment and use of local businesses.

Site - Overview & Site Studies (Preliminary)

  • The Site has a surface of approximately 110 ha.
  • Existing Vegetation: the site is largely cleared of native vegetation. Scattered trees are present.
  • Topo: The Site is flat, with the lowest area located in the bottom eastern corner.
  • Hydro: There is a small watercourse with an average depth of 20 cm which runs from the northwest corner to the southwest area. Additionally, within the farm, there are 9 artificial ponds, and preliminary positive hydrological conditions (depths and flow).
  • Geotech: Boreholes conducted at 1.5 meters. The generalised subsurface condition consists of a 0.1m thick sandy silt/sandy clay topsoil layer over alluvial layers consisted of sandy clay/ sandy silt, clay and sandy clay with lenses of fine to coarse grained clayey sands. Groundwater was not encountered within the depths drilled during investigations. There is an area in the Northeast of the parcel which is classified as LSIO.
