South Australia's world class renewable energy resources give the state a competitive edge in the race to supply clean, green, renewable hydrogen.
The South Australian Government is investing more than half a billion dollars to accelerate new hydrogen projects.
Current government supported projects include the Hydrogen Jobs Plan, AGIG's Hydrogen Park SA, Hydrogen UtilityTM (H2U) development of the Eyre Peninsula Gateway Project, Trafigura Group Pte Ltd's Green Hydrogen Project with Nyrstar, and the establishment of a Hydrogen Hub at Port Bonython. In order to make the most of this opportunity, the SA Department for Industry, Innovation and Science (DIIS) is developing a Hydrogen Workforce Roadmap, and ICN SA within DIIS is mapping hydrogen supply chains.
This ICN project portal was used to gather data to map hydrogen supply chains and develop the hydrogen workforce roadmap. Information will also be used as follows:
- EOI responses will be provided to project proponents on request
- SA supplier information about hydrogen capabilities will be included in a Hydrogen Supply Chain Capability Directory
- Capability information may inform possible SA government programs to grow hydrogen supply chains
On 16th August 2023 the Hydrogen Supply Chain Mapping - South Australia report was released. The report can be found at Perspective.icn.org.au.
