The Armadale Line Upgrade Alliance (ALUA) is a city-shaping project that will deliver Perth’s first major elevated rail solution. The Project provides an opportunity to reduce safety risks and congestion at level crossings and to eliminate potential conflicts between trains and users of the road, cycling and pedestrian networks.

The Armadale Line Upgrade Alliance comprises:

➢ Owner Participant the Public Transport Authority

➢ Constructor Non-Owner Participants (NOPs) Acciona and BMD

➢ Designer NOPs WSP and AECOM.

Removing the level crossings at Mint Street, Oats Street, Welshpool Road, Hamilton Street, Wharf Street and William Street will improve safety, create more connections, ease movements in the area, revitalise the corridor, modernise stations and create versatile public spaces for the community. Potential solutions for removing these crossings are limited due to the built-up surrounding area and a lack of available land outside the rail corridor.
