A proudly Australian Company, Santos is the biggest producer of domestic gas in Western Australia and has been operating in the west since its first oshore discovery, in the Carnarvon Basin, in the early 1980s.

Gas, condensate and oil from the oshore John Brookes, Harriet and Spar-Halyard fields is piped to the Santos-operated Varanus Island processing facility. The sales gas is then transported to mainland WA via two 100-kilometre pipelines, where it is supplied to major mining and industrial customers. Oil and condensate are stored on the island and transferred to tankers for direct export.

Gas and condensate from the oshore Reindeer field are transported to the Santos-operated Devil Creek processing plant, near Karratha, via a 105-kilometre pipeline. Sales gas from the facility is compressed and sent to the WA domestic gas market.

The Van Gogh oil project comprises three oshore fields - Van Gogh, Coniston and Novara - serviced by the Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel, Ningaloo Vision, operated by Santos and located approximately 40km north of the North West Cape.

For over 65 years, Santos has been working in partnership with local communities, providing jobs and business opportunities, and safely and sustainably developing Australia's natural gas resources.

Santos aims to create positive long-term impacts in the communities where we live and work, by providing local employment, training, education and enterprise opportunities. Sharing the positive economic and social benefits of natural gas is critical to ensuring a sustainable future for both Santos and the community.

Keeping Santos' supply chain local is important to the economic, environmental, social and operational sustainability of Santos' projects. Hiring and procuring locally is important to Santos because it encourages:

A reliable, local supply chain that can be flexible and resilient in times of uncertainty

Long-term socio-economic benefits for smaller regional communities

Upskilling and educational opportunities

Local suppliers to source from other local companies.

The Dorado oil field contains 140 mmbbls (2C, 100%) of oil. It is located in the Bedout basin, approximately 150km north of Port Hedland in Petroleum permit WA-437-P. The project will be developed jointly in line with the equity split of Santos Offshore Pty Ltd 80% and Carnarvon Petroleum Pty Ltd 20%.

The offshore resource would be developed with up to 16 platform wells drilled by a jack-up drilling rig. These would be connected back to an adjacent Floating Production, Storage and Offloading facility (FPSO) moored in 95 metres of water above the Dorado field.

The proposed FPSO unit will have processing facilities to stabilise and store the oil and compress and re-inject gas to the reservoir.

The Darwin LNG plant (DLNG) is a single train liquefaction and storage facility located at Wickham Point on Darwin Harbour, Northern Territory, Australia. DLNG is currently receiving gas from the Bayu-Undan field in the Timor Sea and converts it into LNG. DLNG was commissioned in 2006 and has a design life to 2027. Bayu-Undan produced its first gas in 2004 and is now approaching the end of field life.

The DLNG Life Extension Project (the Project) seeks to utilise the shutdown window created by Bayu-Undan end of life to prepare the DLNG facility for backfill from the Barossa field, by undertaking several brownfield work packages.

The Bayu-Undan Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) Project targets the capture of up to 10 Mtpa of CO2 at a Darwin hub - initially from the Darwin LNG facility (DLNG), with potential future expansion to proximal 3rd party. Captured CO2 will be transported to, and stored in, the offshore Bayu-Undan reservoir (in Timor Leste waters).
