Project Details
McConnell Dowell has been shortlisted for the Request for Proposal (RFP) stage of the Darwin Ship Lift Project.
The Darwin Ship Lift project comprises of a 26m wide, 103m long and 6m deep ship lift facility with a 5,000-tonne capacity. The ship lift will enable the maintenance and servicing of Defence and Australian Border Force vessels, along with commercial and private vessels, including from the oil, gas and marine industries. The project will also consist of a common user facility, numerous wet berths and additional hardstand area for ship repair and maintenance works.
McConnell Dowell is one of Australia’s foremost construction companies with an enviable reputation for innovation and the successful delivery of major infrastructure projects, particularly with complex marine elements. McConnell Dowell has a history of successfully performing projects in the Northern Territory, having recently delivered the Northern Gas Pipeline Project from the NT to Mt Isa in partnership with Jemena; and recently commencing works on the HMAS Coonawarra Marine Upgrade Project at the Larrakeyah Barracks in Darwin. Further to this, McConnell Dowell’s capabilities to undertake the project are well-represented by the successful completion of the South Australian Common User Facility, the most recent Ship Lifter to be constructed in Australia.
