Rheinmetall Defence Australia is focused on securing the Land 400 Phase 3 program, the supply of 400 Infantry Fighting Vehicles to the Commonwealth of Australia. The Company is offering the LYNX KF41 Infantry Fighting Vehicle in response to the Commonwealth’s Request for Tender for the Land 400 Phase 3 program.
In keeping with its ongoing industry engagement activities, Rheinmetall encourages engagement by companies across Australia with an interest in becoming part of a national military vehicle industry. This opens the way for potential opportunities to supply parts, products and services into Australian military vehicle programs or Rheinmetall’s Global Supply Chain, servicing military vehicle programs regionally or globally.
As the centrepiece of the LAND 400 Phase 2 and Land 400 Phase 3 programs, Rheinmetall will establish Australia's premier, globally competitive Military Vehicle Centre of Excellence (MILVEHCOE) in Ipswich, Queensland, with a number of other sites throughout Australia. Initially, the MILVEHCOE will contribute to the development, assembly and support requirements for the 211 BOXER CRVs. It will create new Australian direct and indirect jobs for the duration of the LAND 400 Phase 2 Acquisition Program and be capable to deliver the following activities:
- mechanical and software design and development
- vehicle and system manufacture
- test and evaluation
- education and training
- through-life support.
The MILVEHCOE will create enduring relationships with the Commonwealth, industry and academia to develop innovative technologies and capabilities to contribute to Australia's long-term defence objectives. This will also give staff employed at the MILVEHCOE opportunities to develop their own skills and experiences through the secondment to Rheinmetall facilities across the world.
By the time LAND 400 Phase 3 is contracted, the MILVEHCOE and its supporting national military vehicle industry network of Australian suppliers will be qualified for all of the common systems and components required for the Rheinmetall LYNX and LANCE solution. This national approach will directly reduce the total cost of ownership for Defence, create long term highly skilled regional jobs, and deliver enduring economic benefit through a strong sovereign military vehicle industry.
