About the Project

Barossa is an offshore gas and light condensate project being progressed by the Barossa Joint Venture comprising ConocoPhillips Australia Barossa Pty Ltd as Operator (ConocoPhillips Australia), Santos Offshore Pty Ltd and SK E&S Australia Pty Ltd.

MODEC was awarded a Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) contract of the Barossa FPSO in June 2018 and has now been selected as the turnkey contractor based upon its successful performance and deliverables of the FEED contract.

The mechanical ventilation fans shall be designed to the following features but not limited to:
. All fans shall be suitable for offshore marine environment.
. Fan noise limits to be in accordance with good practice as per NOPSEMA guidance.
. All fans shall be provided suitable for duct connection, or constructed for direct bulkhead mounting with associated inlets, outlets, and dampers. All fans and motors shall be provided with earth bosses for earth bonding.
. Centrifugal fans are to be supported on anti-vibration mountings.
. Centrifugal fans not mounted on skids in run / standby arrangement shall have flexible connections on discharge outlets.
. Axial fans mounted on skids in run/ standby arrangement shall have flange connections on inlets and discharge outlets.
. Fans shall be designed and constructed in accordance with ISO 15138.
. Fan shaft and impeller critical speeds shall be at least 20% in excess of the recommended maximum operating speed. Fans shall be selected to give a margin for adjustment of +10% performances without reaching critical shaft or impeller speeds.
. Fans shall have non stall and non- overloading characteristics and operate without reverse flow.

The seawater for the water injection shall be lifted from at least 75 meters below the ship's base line using suction hoses. Seawater lift hoses shall be installed on the starboard side shell within reach of deck crane of the FPSO. The seawater lift hose system shall be designed with a full detailed global static, dynamic and localized analysis using either Flexcom-3D, Flexan-F, Orcaflex or Flex Riser. Due to the depths at which seawater shall be taken, it will be necessary for the hose to withstand drag forces and bending moments.

The seawater is lifted from a water depth of about 70 meters below the surface. The Seawater System provides raw seawater with the required filtration to meet the FPSO heat reject demands including heating medium cooling and the cooling required for the Generator Steam Condenser. Ionized chlorine is injected at the inlet of the seawater lift pumps, to avoid marine growth.

The well stream is routed to the FPSO via individual subsea manifolds and risers for the gas/condensate production. The inlet production stream from the Production Manifold is directed to the Production Separator. The Production Manifold and the Production Separator can be operated at High Pressure (HP) mode in early field life and Low Pressure (LP) Mode in late field life. The inlet production stream is separated in the Production Separator for bulk gas / liquid separation. The separated liquids from the Production Separator are further treated at lower operating pressures, enabling stabilization of the condensate before directing it to condensate storage in the hull.
