Leigh Creek Energy Coal Gasification
Project Details
Leigh Creek Energy Limited (LCK) is an emerging gas company focused on developing its Leigh Creek Energy Project (LCEP), located in South Australia. The LCEP will produce high value products such as methane, power and fertiliser from the remnant coal resources at Leigh Creek utilising In Situ Gasification (ISG) technologies, and will provide long term growth and opportunities to the communities of the northern Flinders Ranges and South Australia.
The Company is committed to developing the LCEP using a best practice approach to mitigate the technical, environmental and financial project risks to as low as can be reasonably achieved.
LCKs pathway to development of the LCEP comprises the following stages:
- Characterisation Phase - Characterisation of the existing environment at LCEP from environmental, geological, geotechnical and hydrogeological perspectives of the site for low risk ISG project development;
- Demonstration Phase - Demonstrating ISG at LCEP using a low cost rapid deployment technique to provide environmental and gas quality data to inform environmental authorities and commercial project design and feasibility studies;
- Technology Selection Phase - Source or develop commercially viable ISG technology and plan for its commercial implementation at LCEP; and,
- Commercial Phase - Conduct engineering design and feasibility studies to support the selected commercial deployment of ISG at LCEP. LCK intends to utilise existing technologies where viable, or develop better techniques where those technologies don't exist or are otherwise unavailable.
At this stage LCK is looking for initial expressions of interest from companies who have had experience in the petroleum industry or are willing to retrain to provide service across all stages of the project. Please note that the project is in its early stages and all queries should be directed to ICN consultants.
