Shell QGC portal to boost local engagement
ICN and Online Procurement Services have teamed up with Shell’s QGC business to create a portal designed to advertise supply chain opportunities with both Shell QGC and several of its major contractors.
Shell QGC’s Supplier Portal is integrated with the ICN Gateway. This means that when businesses register on the Portal, details from that business’ ICN profile can be pulled through to the Portal, making it quick and easy to sign up.
According to the Portal website, “Shell aims to be a good neighbour and to positively contribute to communities where we operate”. This includes a commitment to buy from local and Indigenous businesses.
The Portal’s key purpose is to “improve the visibility and transparency of upcoming work opportunities, particularly for suppliers based in Shell QGC’s local operational footprint in the Surat Basin and Gladstone in Queensland”.
Shell QGC’s Supplier Portal means any company can:
“The Portal complements ICN Gateway as a way for businesses to increase their visibility across industries, and access more supply opportunities,” ICN Executive Director Mike Swart said.
It is one of the first projects off the ranks for ICN’s new offering, ICN Procurement (powered by Online Procurement System), established to provide an eProcurement system, and associated procurement services.
Some of the key benefits of ICN Procurement are to provide:
It is expected to also increase the number of SMEs engaged in local procurement.
Shell’s QGC business is one of Australia's leading natural gas producers, focused on developing Queensland's world-class onshore gas reserves.
The company produces natural gas from wells drilled into coal seams in the Surat Basin. Its operations include more than 2,600 production wells, 24 field compression stations, six central processing plants, two water treatment plants and a two-train LNG export facility on Curtis Island.
