Overview

The South Australian Government is implementing the Hydrogen Jobs Plan which includes the following infrastructure to be constructed at Whyalla:

* 250MWe of electrolysers;

* 200MW of power generation to be powered by hydrogen produced by the electrolysers; and

* the Hydrogen Reticulation and Storage System (HRSS).

Epic Energy has been engaged by the South Australian Government to provide Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) Services for the HRSS aspect of the Hydrogen Jobs Plan.

Headquartered in Adelaide, Epic Energy is a diversified energy infrastructure company that owns and operates critical energy assets including gas midstream infrastructure and renewable power generation. Epic Energy has a long history in the Australian energy market with origins dating back to the 1960s when the Moomba to Adelaide Pipeline System was constructed and commissioned. The skills, experience and systems required to safely own, operate and maintain gas and renewable generation infrastructure are readily transferable to the emerging hydrogen industry. Hydrogen reticulation and storage is the logical next step for the organisation.

Epic Energy will name the HRSS asset the Whyalla Hydrogen Pipeline. The Whyalla Hydrogen Pipeline will be a dual-purpose storage and transmission pipeline. In addition to supplying green hydrogen to the power generators, the Whyalla Hydrogen Pipeline will provide infrastructure connections for hydrogen production expansion and industrial offtake.

Epic Energy is interested in receiving expressions of interest from organisations who consider they have the skills and experience to contribute to the development of the Whyalla Hydrogen Pipeline.
