Overview

Transgrid is the trading name for NSW Electricity Networks Operations Pty Limited (ACN 609 169 959) as trustee for NSW Electricity Networks Operations Trust (ABN 70 250 995 390).

Transgrid operates and manages the high voltage electricity transmission network in NSW and ACT, a system comprising of 100 bulk supply substations and power station switchyards and over 13,000 kilometers of transmission lines operating at up to 500kV. Transgrid also operates and/or manages over 100 radio sites, and an optical fibre based telecommunications network, which is primarily used to provide telecommunications services for the protection, operation and maintenance of the high voltage electricity network in NSW and the ACT. Transgrid is delivering the Federal and State Government's vision for a clean energy future, building the transmission super-highway which will transform the energy supply for millions of Australians.

Lumea is the commercial arm of Transgrid which delivers non-regulated infrastructure and provides carrier grade telecommunication services to over 100 wholesale , government and emergency services customers.

Transgrid's capital program of work scope has been divided into the following categories:

1. Prescribed Work - The program of work under a 5 -year regulatory period for which Transgrid provides a submission to Australian Energy Regulator (AER) which leads to the revenue forecast needed to maintain and operate the existing transmission network in a safe, reliable, sustainable and affordable manner.

2. Non - prescribed work - The program of work which is non-regulated and linked to new connections and expansion of the existing electricity network which contributes to Transgrid's business growth.

To deliver the program of works, Transgrid requires engineering capabilities which help develop designs and other engineering support projects. These Engineering Requirements are spread across various streams such as -

a) High Voltage Design including Earthing Design

b) Transmission Line and Cable Design

c) Civil and Structural Design

d) Secondary Systems Design - Including Control, Protection and Communications Design

e) Automation Systems Design

f) Network Design

g) Feasibility studies including Cost Estimation

h) Project and Asset Management Services

i) Equipment Engineering Support - including Overseas Factory Inspection

j) Geotechnical Engineering

k) Independent Engineering Services

l) Environmental Engineering
