The Project
The Angliss Hospital Expansion Stage 2 project is being delivered by the Victorian Health Building Authority in partnership with Eastern Health. The Victorian Government has announced $112 Million in funding to expand the Angliss Hospital in Ferntree Gully. Angliss Hospital was established in 1939, located at the foot of the Dandenong Ranges. It caters for local communities from the South of Knox to the South-West of Yarra Ranges, as well as Croydon and parts of Ringwood. Since inception the facility has undergone numerous refurbishments and expansions during its lifetime.
The expansion will be completed over multiple stages with Stage 2 due to be completed by December 2025.
The Main Works Project scope involves the demolition of the existing East Wing and the construction of a new 3 storey building/extension.
The Main Works scope includes:
- 4 new Operating theatres sized for contemporary requirements with associated recovery zones
- A new Inpatient ward for overnight acute care
- A new central sterilising service department in line with new standards/regulations
- Ambulatory care and allied health
- Front of house services from Talaskia Road to support wayfinding and site access
- Additional staff amenities and on-site car parking
Timing:
- Late 2022 - Site preparation works commence
- September 2023 - Tenders for main works package released
- Late 2023 - Contractor announced
- Early 2024 - Construction commences
- Late 2025 - Main expansion works complete
