For the fourth year in a row, ICN Victoria has partnered with the Victorian Government to host the Victorian Manufacturing Showcase.

With the theme of “Creating New Opportunities”, the aim of the showcase is to provide opportunities for Victorian manufacturers to gain invaluable insights into successful Victorian businesses whilst networking with other manufacturers and the Victorian Government.

‘With a manufacturing sector that is rapidly changing in the wake of developments such as the closure of the automotive industry and the Hazelwood Power station, businesses need to leverage off their capability to create new opportunities,’ Executive Director ICN Victoria Don Matthews said.

‘For example, businesses might be able to find new opportunities, including in growth sectors such as medical and pharmaceuticals, new energy, food and fibre, transport, defence and construction.’

According to the Australian Manufacturing Technology Institute Limited, these opportunities are ‘helping to provide new investment, market growth and employment. The identified priority sectors could drive up to $70bn in additional economic output and 400,000 new jobs by 2025.’

This year the showcase will feature companies that have successfully transitioned into new sectors or built stronger positions in their sectoral marketplace.

‘The showcase is all about the stories of those companies. They’re personal stories really, about what they have done with their business, it’s personal and it’s inspiring,’ Don said.

More than 300 delegates are expected to attend and speakers include representatives from Sutton Tools, Siemens, Impresa House, Composite Materials Engineering, Integra, Glaxo Smith Kline and Class Plastics.
