Department of Transport and Main Roads
Project overview
The Rockhampton Ring Road is a long-term, visionary project for the Bruce Highway. It will unlock future economic growth and deliver significant benefits including improved flood resilience, freight efficiencies and road safety, and reduced travel times.
The Rockhampton Ring Road alignment provides a western link of the Bruce Highway extending from the Capricorn Highway (at Nelson Street) in the south through to Bruce Highway / Rockhampton-Yeppoon Road intersection in the north. This will include a new crossing of the Fitzroy River between Pink Lily and Kawana.
The project will improve connectivity to priority facilities, services and precincts in Rockhampton by increasing the number of access point to the city.
For more information on the design and timing, visit the Rockhampton Ring Road project webpage.
Opportunities for suppliers
The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) is committed to maximising opportunities for local suppliers and services to gain work on the Rockhampton Ring Road project.
The Rockhampton Ring Road project is a once in a lifetime opportunity to build capability within the regional workforce, with an extended pipeline of road infrastructure construction that provides opportunities for apprentices and trainees, engineers, and technical services to be engaged on this significant infrastructure build.
Contracts for the initial packages of work ($280 million) were awarded at the end of June 2023 and works commenced on sites in North and South Rockhampton in November 2023.
Local suppliers of services and products are encouraged to familiarise themselves with the TMR process to become a registered supplier of services and/or approved products by accessing the following link:

- You register your interest as a full or partial scope supplier (where applicable)

It is important that businesses submitting an ROI are aware that their submission does not guarantee that they will progress further in the procurement process TMR may, in its absolute discretion, exclude any business from progressing any further for any reason, or decide not to proceed with the procurement process.
TMR gives no representation or undertaking that any business submitting an ROI will be contacted by a potential principal contractor or successful tenderer. Further, registration does not guarantee any volume of orders. Only businesses that can demonstrate capability and capacity in accordance with the project's standards may be invited to pre-qualify for specific opportunities. By submitting an ROI, you acknowledge and agree that TMR will not be liable for any claim arising out of, or in any way in connection with this ROI.
