Orsted acknowledges that their project is being developed on the land of the Gunaikurnai and would like to acknowledge and pay respects to their Elders, past, present and emerging.

As the world's first, largest and most experienced offshore wind developer, Orsted is ready to explore renewable energy opportunities with Australia.

Orsted recognises Australia's strong offshore wind potential. Backed by supportive policies and momentum for clean energy, Orsted believes Australia has all the ingredients for a thriving offshore wind market and associated industry.

Currently, Orsted is developing proposals for a large-scale offshore wind project off the coast of Gippsland, Victoria. They plan to engage closely with existing enterprises, local communities and Traditional Owners to catalyse an Australian industry across the renewable energy sector which truly supports local jobs and supply chains.

About Orsted
Orsted develops, constructs and operates offshore and onshore wind farms, solar farms, energy storage facilities, renewable hydrogen and green fuels facilities, and bioenergy plants.

As global leader in offshore wind Orsted has worked closely with governments, suppliers and partners in more than a dozen countries across three continents. Over the past three decades Orsted has an unmatched track record in delivering offshore wind projects on budget, on time and safely to markets across the world while engaging and developing the industry in these markets.

Building green energy holds unprecedented opportunities for positive change in Australia - for creating growth in economies, revitalising local communities, and making a net-positive contribution to biodiversity.

Potential Opportunities

Orsted wants to hear from local businesses, including Traditional Owner businesses and welcomes expressions of interest to collaborate on their upcoming project. Orsted is following a multi-contracting approach in close collaboration with their extended supply chain.

The main scopes for first-tier contracts include the following:

  • Wind turbine generator supply
  • Foundation supply
  • Offshore Substations supply
  • Onshore Substation supply
  • Array cable supply
  • Export cable supply
  • Transport, installation and commissioning of all main components
  • Transmission and grid connection
  • Site investigation services

Further opportunities for local companies and future high skilled labour positions will be created through various downstream activities, potentially including the following:

  • Wind turbine components and consumables
  • Professional services (e.g. consultancy and marketing)
  • Equipment hire
  • Signage
  • Communication services
  • Welfare facilities
  • Waste management services
  • Hospitality services
  • Facility construction and services

Please find an overview of potential opportunities described in the work packages and express your interest.

Project Development Phases
An offshore wind farm is structured in a development phase, a supply, construction and installation phase and an operational phase. Expressions of interest will be considered in the appropriate phases.

Consultation and contact with shortlisted suppliers will differ in timing throughout the whole project timeline. Orsted encourages all local suppliers with the relevant skills and capabilities to express their interest to be included in Orsted's local supplier overview.

Orsted Industry Briefing

Orsted's first industry briefing was held on 20th of February 2023 - watch the video below to learn about the offshore wind industry and all the potential of being part of a renewable energy supply chain.

Expression of Interest (EOI) Information
Orsted invites businesses interested in supplying to the project to register an expression of interest (EOI) through the ICN Gateway webpage. Select the work package that is relevant to your organisation and fill out the EOI form to be included in Orsted's local supplier overview. As the project evolves additional scope specific work packages might be included and new opportunities come available.

Disclaimer: All work packages may be subject to change and an EOI does not imply an undertaking to contract or proceed to a competitive process. Further contact with interested suppliers will be at Orsted's discretion.

HOW TO REGISTER AN EXPRESSION OF INTEREST (EOI)

  • To submit an EOI, companies must have an ICN Gateway company profile. Information on how to register your company on ICN Gateway is detailed below.
  • This is an initial, generic EOI submission only. All companies who submit an EOI will be included in information presented to companies who are short listed to bid for this Project.
  • The services, programmes and initiatives provided by ICN Victoria are aimed at complementing a company's existing Sales, Marketing and Business Development strategy and any EOI submitted should not be considered as an alternative to these activities.

ICN GATEWAY COMPANY REGISTRATION

  • Click here to register your company profile on ICN Gateway.
  • Support and assistance are available through the web links listed below.
  • An ICN Gateway company profile that accurately and effectively summarises your company is critical to using the services of the ICN Group - please ensure that your company invests the time and energy required to represent your company in the most effective manner possible.
  • Companies should ensure that the email notification functionality within their ICN Gateway company profile is activated to include an appropriate level of coverage to Information & Updates, Major Projects and Regional Opportunities.
