Alstom was awarded the contract to deliver the Perth METRONET Railcar Procurement Program which includes delivery of 41 x 6 car EMU (246 cars) and 2 x 3 car DMU sets. The contract also includes up to 30 years maintenance.  The Railcar Program has been identified as a strategic project under the WA Jobs Act 2017, which has additional requirements for local job creation and 50% local content for the manufacturing of the new trains.

Manufacturing of the trains will take place at a state owned manufacturing and assembly plant in Bellevue, Perth. Construction of the plant by the State has already commenced, railcar manufacturing will begin in 2021, with the trains delivered from 2022 to 2029 .

Alstom is currently working through the detailed engineering phase of the project, and the attached list identifies key packages that will be issued out for tender using the Alstom E-Procurement platform in the coming weeks.  All suppliers who are interested in tendering should apply through The Alstom in Australia web page https://www.alstom.com/alstom-australia - Become a supplier in Australia.  The supplier details and the project of industry can be communicated through the webform.
