About the Project
The Jindalee Operational Radar Network (JORN) capability is a comprehensive radar network integral to Australia’s defence capability and national security. JORN provides 24-hour air and maritime wide-area military surveillance of the northern and western approaches to Australia.
As part of JORN Phase 6, BAE Systems are undertaking a $1.2 billion upgrade which will take research technological advancement into the operational environment in alignment with the 2016 Defence White Paper. Tiwi Partners have been awarded the $45 million contract to deliver the facilities required for the success of BAE’s ongoing program of works.
The Tiwi Partners scope of works will see the replacement of deteriorating permanent living accommodation with contemporary transit accommodation which will allow the workforce to transition to a travel in/travel out operational support model.
New facilities will also be delivered to support the increased cooling requirements of the computing equipment and address building non-compliances identified during asset condition assessments.
Additionally, to meet the capability upgrade requirements, Tiwi Partners will establish four new ionospheric sounder sites in WA, SA and Queensland.
Tiwi Partners would like to thank local industry, particularly in Alice Springs and the rest of the Territory for their time and effort during the tender period. We are currently negotiating subcontracts with those who lodged pricing during the tender period, however there are still opportunities for additional participation.
We will identify the successful subcontractors via this gateway page which will allow further opportunities further down the supply chain for local industry. We will also utilise the gateway page to update the market regarding any other upcoming opportunities that may present themselves through the course of the project.
