Project Objectives

The Council and the community objectives for this project are:

• Highlighting the existing evidence on the impacts of climate change


• Developing a best practice suite of responses to the impacts of climate change


• Identifying the roles and responsibilities of Council and its key stakeholders


• Identifying the key barriers and potential enablers


• Increasing awareness of the impacts of climate change and empowering others to act


• Demonstrating the benefits of addressing climate change for a thriving economy, a healthy community  and a sustainable city


• Increasing resilience to the impacts of climate change


• Embedding climate change as a part of all decision making processes


• Identifying, evaluating and setting appropriate goals, objectives and targets


• Identifying, facilitating and driving climate change mitigation and adaptation actions


• Ensuring Council meets its legislative and good governance requirements to enable it to demonstrate leadership with regard to climate change
