Oil and gas leaders converge on Adelaide

In May, Adelaide welcomed delegates to Australian oil and gas industry’s premier annual event, the 2018 Australian Petroleum Production and Exploration Association Conference and Exhibition.

An event highlight was the breakfast for industry and government leaders, hosted by SA Mining and Energy Minister Daniel van Holst Pellekaan, who updated the audience about the new Liberal Government’s strategies.

After the breakfast, the Minister visited the exhibition booths of selected South Australian service companies and the Australian School of Petroleum.

Industry Capability Network, SA (part of the Department for Industry and Skills) collaborated with the Department of Energy and Mining for a combined South Australian stand.

 ICN SA Manager Industry Participation, Bettina Venner played host at the stand, which showcased the South Australian Government’s petroleum exploration and investment opportunities as well CAPS Australia, Naval Group, Nitschke Energy, Nobles, TAFE SA’s Onshore Petroleum Centre of Excellence Training Facility at Tonsley and the Industry Capability Network (ICN).

About the companies featured at the SA stand:

  • CAPS Australia designs, manufactures and services compressed air and power generation solutions.
  • Naval Group, with its head office in France, is Australia's international partner for the design and build of 12 Future Submarines in 2016.
  • Nitschke Energy Services (part of the Nitschke Group) specialises in gas well maintenance services.
  • A Noble & Son Ltd (Nobles) provides lifting and rigging equipment, service, inspections, repair and engineering design.
  • TAFE SA’s Onshore Petroleum Centre of Excellence Training Facility (OPCE) offers specialised oil and gas training at its Tonsley site.
  • ICN is a business network that introduces Australian and New Zealand companies to projects large and small.
     

During the conference, the South Australian Government also hosted a tour for delegates to Tonsley to view the Drill Core Reference Library, TAFE SA’s Onshore Petroleum Centre of Excellence training facility and the Tonsley Innovation district.
