Boost for health and medical industries sector
With Adelaide home to an emergent world-class health and medical industries sector, ICN SA is helping companies from around the world find suitable suppliers of products and services within South Australia.
The Health and Medical Industries (HMI) Portal is aimed at building industry capability and scale, with South Australia having a global reputation for health and medical industries capabilities and an integral part of the Asia-Pacific region.
Adelaide BioMed City
Adelaide BioMed City is one of the largest health precincts in the Southern Hemisphere and incorporates the South Australian Health and Medical Research Institute (SAHMRI) and the Australian Bragg Centre, the first proton therapy centre of its type in Australia. Adelaide BioMed city stretches across the heart of the city centre along North Terrace.
Flinders Health and Medical Research Institute (FHMRI)
Co-located with Flinders University and encompassing Flinders Village at Tonsley, the Flinders Health and Medical Research Institute (FHMRI), is spearheading collaborative research spanning physical and mental health and wellbeing, amplifying the university’s longstanding contributions across the health, education and medical sectors in the heart of the southern medical precinct.
“Through a unified approach between government and industry we are cohesively working together to continue to grow the HMI sector within South Australia,” Dirk Beelen, Director Health and Medical Industries said.
The HMI Capability Database provides information about South Australian product or service providers specifically relating to the Health and Medical Industries sectors. Its key aim is to provide a platform for cross-sector collaboration and partnerships across universities, government and industry.
The database underpins the objective of the Health and Medical Industries’ Sector Plan 2020 to 2030to more than double the economic growth value of the sector to $5 billion by 2030.
At the launch of the Health and Medical Industries sector plan, Minister for Trade and Investment, Stephen Patterson, said the government is committed to facilitating projects which support the economic growth of the sector and the state. Industry identified three key targets including creating cohesive industry presence, attracting further international clinical trials and growing the ageing well and care industry.
ICN SA encourages suitable companies to set up a profile on ICN Gateway and register their interest in listing on the portal. A basic profile is free and includes a listing on the HMI portal for SA suppliers in the health and medical industries. Optional subscription upgrades are available to increase visibility on ICN Gateway, in addition to the free listing on the HMI portal.
Once your ICN company profile information is verified, bespoke HMI fields will be opened up for you to populate so you can tailor your company’s capability to the Health and Medical Industries sector.
