More wind turbines planned for southern NSW

ICN NSW is working with Vestas on a 54-turbine windfarm being built near Collector, to ensure local businesses are involved in the successful delivery of the project.

Consultant Wally Hirsch said this windfarm was a latest in a number of renewable energy projects that ICN offices across Australia have been involved with over a number of years.

“Opportunities for Australian manufacturers and suppliers have come from the windfarm installation and construction process, cabling, electricity conversion systems and substations, and complementary industries such as heavy haulage and components,” Wally said.

The NSW Government gave planning approval to project owner RATCH-Australia for the Collector Wind Farm in 2013.

The site, near Goulburn in the south of NSW, is in one of the windiest regions in the state and there is a strong grid connection point to export generated power.

Once complete, it will generate enough energy on average to power around 80,000 homes every year of its expected 25-year life.

As new work packages are added we encourage local suppliers and service providers to lodge an EOI,” Wally said. “Shortlisted companies will then be invited to tender.”

Construction of the wind farm is expected to generate about 150 jobs.

In order to lodge an EOI, your business must have an up-to-date Gateway company profile.
