The project will be a 50-50 joint venture between BHP Billiton and Mitsubishi Development Pty Ltd, managed by BMA.

The Hay Point Expansion Stage 3 (HPX3) project will increase the capacity of the Hay Point Coal Terminal through the construction of a third berth.

 The scope of the project includes:

• A new third berth and shiploader
• Existing trestle conveyors and surge bins will be replaced
• Overland conveyors will be established to transfer coal from the stockpile to the jetty.

 Location:

HPX3 is located about 40 kilometres south of Mackay in northern Queensland.
